Welcome to this virtual community where you will learn to communicate in English having fun

Here I will post a song every week so you get ready to do your homework with a positive vibe.
This is a song by an American band called Glass Candy. Their style is a blend between 70s disco, electro and punk. I hope you enjoy ;)

Along the lines of the above song by Glass Candy, here are a couple of videos from one of my favourite bands, The Knife. Alvaro, Sara Rincón and all those Lady Gaga fans, I'm really sorry but if we are talking about originality, the post-punk trend of Lady Gaga is a copy of The Knife. So, to open your minds musically, I suggest you look back and listen to the origins of music or music styles. This is just one instance. This is the world of The Knife: precise, particular, dark, occult, elegant, sensual, funny-ha.ha. This Swedish brother-and-sister duo work mostly on their own in splendid isolation; they release music on their own label,

so they have to answer no one. They have only ever played live once! The Knife don't do anything by half, and they don't do

anything twice! Compromise is the enemy, repetition a cop-out!

Hope you enjoy:

There is a message in this song. Just observe the people and guess what it is. What is the message? Anyone?
As far as my personal opinion and feelings I get by listening to this song, I asked my mother what she thought. She liked the song and the concept of the video but said it was sad. However, for me it is very elegant, sexy and very sensual. Just look at the way the boy who approaches the singer and dances close to her. Here are the lyrics:

I'm in love with your brother
what's his name?
I thought I'd come by
to see him again
when you two danced
oh what a dance
when you two laughed
oh what a laugh
has he mentioned my age love?
or is he more into young girls with dyed black hair?
I'm in love with your brother
I thought I'd come by
I'm in love with your brother
yes I am
but maybe I shouldn't ask for his name
and you danced
oh what a dance
and you laughed
oh what a laugh
does he know what I do?
and you'll pass this on, wont you?
and if I asked
him once what would he say?
is he willing?
can he play?
if I asked him once what would he say?
is he willing
can he play?
does he know what I do?
and you'll pass this on, wont you?
and if I asked him once what would he say?
is he willing?
can he play

Fever Ray is the solo project of Karin Dreijer Andersson, who is one half of the Swedish electro act The Knife (the other half is her brother Olof Dreijer). Andersson was also the lead singer and guitarist for the defunct indie pop group Honey is Cool. The first, self-titled Fever Ray record was released digitally on January 13, 2009 and its first single If I Had A Heart was released on December 15, 2008.

What would you do if one decade into your career you suddenly saw one of your songs turned into a worldwide hit, won six Grammis in your native Sweden, and your latest release was declared album of the year by one of the worlds most influential music websites? If youre Karin Dreijer Andersson, formerly singer with 90s pop hopes Honey is Cool and now one half of The Knife, the answer is to take a couple of years off and return as a solo artist under a new name: Fever Ray.

In Karins own words, I had so many songs to record that I just had to make an album. I thought I was going to have a longer break but I guess it will never happen. I cant stop working. My aim was to finish the album and now that its done Im a bit restless (good that The Knife has an opera to write then.) During the last years I discovered that I like to sing too, so I hope that my newly found live band will make it to the stages next year. We are rehearsing and building something beautiful and brilliant.

What's up? Today I'm going to show you a video and lyric of my idol Lady GaGa...
I love Lady GaGa 'cause she composes all her songs and music.

Lyric:

I can't believe what you said to me
Last night when we were alone
You threw your hands up
Baby you gave up, you gave up

I can't believe how you looked at me
With your James Dean glossy eyes
In your tight jeans with your long hair
And your cigarette stained lies

Could we fix you if you broke?
And is your punch line just a joke?

I'll never talk again
Oh boy you've left me speechless
You've left me speechless, so speechless

And I'll never love again,
Oh boy you've left me speechless
You've left me speechless, so speechless

I can't believe how you slurred at me
With your half wired broken jaw
You popped my heart seams
On my bubble dreams, bubble dreams

I can't believe how you looked at me
With your Johnnie Walker eyes
He's gonna get you and after he's through
There's gonna be no love left to rye

And I know that it's complicated
But I'm a loser in love
So baby raise a glass to mend
All the broken hearts
Of all my wrecked up friends

I'll never talk again
Oh boy you've left me speechless
You've left me speechless so speechless

I'll never love again,
Oh friend you've left me speechless
You've left me speechless, so speechless

How?
Haaaa-oooo-wow?
H-ooow?
Wow

Haaaa-oooo-wow?
H-ooow?
Wow

And after all the drinks and bars that we've been to
Would you give it all up?
Could I give it all up for you?

And after all the boys and girls that we've been through
Would you give it all up?
Could you give it all up?

If I promise boy to you
That I'll never talk again
And I'll never love again
I'll never write a song
Won't even sing along

I'll never love again
So speechless
You left me speechless, so speechless
Why you so speechless, so speechless?

Will you ever talk again?
Oh boy, why you so speechless?
You've left me speechless so speechless

Some men may follow me
But you choose "death and company"
Why you so speechless? Oh oh oh

Hi guys, it's my first post so I'll start with one of my favorites songs. Hope you like it!

Video:

Lyric:

La la la la
La la la la
La la la la

I want you to love me, like I’m a hot guy
Keep thinkin’ of me, doin’ what you like
So boy forget about the world cuz it’s gon’ be me and you tonight
I wanna make your bed for ya, then imma make you swallow your pride

Want you to make me feel like I’m the only girl in the world
Like I’m the only one that you’ll ever love
Like I’m the only one who knows your heart
Only girl in the world
Like I’m the only one that’s in command
Cuz I’m the only one who understands how to make you feel like a man
Want you to make me feel like I’m the only girl in the world
Like I’m the only one that you’ll ever love
Like I’m the only one who knows your heart
Only one

Want you to take me like a thief in the night
Hold me like a pillow, make me feel right
Baby I’ll tell you all my secrets that I’m keepin’, you can come inside
And when you enter, you ain’t leavin’, be my prisoner for the night

Want you to make me feel like I’m the only girl in the world
Like I’m the only one that you’ll ever love
Like I’m the only one who knows your heart
Only girl in the world
Like I’m the only one that’s in command
Cuz I’m the only one who understands, like I’m the only one who knows your heart, only one

Take me for a ride
Oh baby, take me high
Let me make you first
Oh make it last all night
Take me for a ride
Oh baby, take me high
Let me make you first
Make it last all night

Want you to make me feel like I’m the only girl in the world
Like I’m the only one that you’ll ever love
Like I’m the only one who knows your heart
Only girl in the world
Like I’m the only one that’s in command
Cuz I’m the only one who understands how to make you feel like a man
Only girl in the world
Girl in the world
Only girl in the world
Girl in the world

“Intelligence is the capacity to do something useful in the society in which we live. Intelligence is the ability to respond successfully to new situations and the capacity to learn from one’s past experiences.”
—Dr. Howard Gardner, author, Frames of Mind and Multiple Intelligences: The Theory in Practice

Dr. Howard Gardner, a professor of cognition and education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, developed his theory of multiple intelligences twenty years ago. Simply put, Dr. Gardner posits that people employ several different types of intelligence, rather than one general type.

I hope you have enjoyed the text we have read in Unit 1. Here is some more material for you. I googled and found a multiple intelligence test http://www.bgfl.org/bgfl/custom/resources_ftp/client_ftp/ks3/ict/multiple_int/questions/questions.cfm
and other resources like study techniques depending on your intelligence http://literacyworks.org/mi/practice/index.html.
Maybe you can publish your results and suggest activities to do in class.
